Some of my earliest games were Milton Bradley&#8217;s Command Series &#8211; Dogfight, Broadside, Battle-Cry. My father thought that history based games would just the ticket. Later on my brother got me a subscription to Strategy&amp;Tactics magazine. I liked the analysis in the magazine and there was a game in each issue. The die was cast I was hooked.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\t\t<h3>Wargames<\/h3>\t\t\n\t\t\t<p>Primarily I am wargamer as well as an avid reader of history. You will find strong historical themes in my games. I am much more driven by the theme in a game by the mechanisms used. I feel the mechanisms are a tool to accomplish the theme.<\/p>\n<p>While most eras interest me, I do have my primary interests.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>American Civil War<\/li>\n<li>Ancient Rome &amp; Greece<\/li>\n<li>Napoleonic<\/li>\n<li>The Great War<\/li>\n<li>Medieval<\/li>\n<li>However, an interesting topic in any other era will catch my eye.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To the right is some of my wargames as a shelfie.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rajungamer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/shelf2-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"shelf2\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"2560\" width=\"2066\" title=\"shelf2\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rajungamer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pexels-cottonbro-4691601-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"pexels-cottonbro-4691601\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"1706\" width=\"2560\" title=\"pexels-cottonbro-4691601\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t\t<h3>Trains<\/h3>\t\t\n\t\t\t<p>I have a passion for rail games. Trains are a theme I love. Fortunately while my wife does not go for wargames she loves the economic and construction aspect of train games.<\/p>\n<p>Of course I added a Ticket to Ride picture to emphasize this<\/p>\n\t<p>I&#8217;ve been active on Boardgame Geek BGG for a long time. you can see my collection on my profile. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boardgamegeek.com\/user\/rajungamer\">https:\/\/www.boardgamegeek.com\/user\/rajungamer<\/a><\/p>\n\t<p>There are some very active boardgaming groups in Birmingham. Find one close to you<\/p>\n\t\t<h3>My Day Job<\/h3>\t\t\n\t\t\t<p>I&#8217;ve been in Information Technology since the &#8217;70s as well.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve Seen a lot of changes over the years. It is amazing how much it has changed. Currently I consult on Oracle and SqlServer databases for Clearwinds Technologies.
