Ah the 70’s so many good memories, bright colors, flairs, platform shoes and polyester. No natural fibers allowed. Glad to see that Hamtag addressed a decade from my youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ’70s is when I had my Strategy & Tactics subscription, and looked forward to bi-monthly game. Some were poor but others were great and I played for years. However, I only got S&T for the articles which did a nice job of outlining what was in the game. Hmm that sounds like a different magazine that I also got for the articles and not the photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For my top 5<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Art of Siege Lille\/Sevastopol – these look so great to capture the look of a Vauban siege.<\/li>
  2. Bar Lev – Wow that was a BRIGHT map. It was amazing on how it captured a lot of the feel of the Yom Kippur war a few years after the event.<\/li>
  3. The Conquerors – Had a nice diplomatic effect to line up allies to fight with you.<\/li>
  4. Napoleon at Waterloo – So simple and captured the feel. SPI used to give it you as a thank you for subscribing. It is what I would call a lagniappe.<\/li>
  5. My S&T subscription, so many great games during the 70’s, I can’t just pick one.
    Frederick the Great – So important to guard your supply lines
    Battle for Germany – Liked how it handled the problem of one side on the defense only by splitting what the players managed.
    Winter War = Loved the random events.
    PanzerGruppe Guderian – Loved how as the soviets you didn’t know what your units would do.
    WWI – All about the attrition.
    Cobra – I still like its take on the Normandy breakout.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Now you mentioned music – so many good genres. To me it was the peak of rock&roll. So my favorite bands and artists:
