Notice that they frequently triggered a interest in the history so I had to get the books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" reversed start=\"5\"><li>Tokyo Express &#8211; I felt it nicely captured the feel of the night battles at Guadalcanal.<\/li><li>Pax Britannia &#8211; Yes it was developed by and accountant and needs spreadsheet support. It is an interesting take on colonialism sold since I lost the game group that was interested in it. Reread my copy of Sidney Fay&#8217;s Origins of the World War (vol 1) which discussed the colonial competition as part of the Great Power conflicts.<\/li><li>the Peloponnesian War &#8211; The switch side mechanic was a stroke of brilliance. Got me to buy a copy of Thucydides.<\/li><li>Lee vs Grant &#8211; A great take on operational campaigns. Was only superseded by the Great Campaigns of the ACW. It also got me reading about Grant and the Overland campaign. Really liked Trudeau&#8217;s book.<\/li><li>The Civil War &#8211; I&#8217;ve played this more than any other strategic Civil War games. Still my go to version. Does need a house rule on dumping leaders. I find requiring all leaders to be in command of a fighting unit to be helpful. My brother steered me to T. Harry Williams book &#8220;Lincoln and his Generals&#8221;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Honorable Mention &#8211; Vietnam &#8211; I liked it look and feel but I hard time getting into this one<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Victory Games kept me interested in gaming during the 80&#8217;s as life caught up with me.
